We got an emergency appointment for the next day to have an ultrasound a the ENT. It was determined that Hyatt had a Thyroglossal Duct Cyst. It is a cyst on his Adam's apple that was probably forming from the time he was in the womb. It might have just started growing quickly all of a sudden. I was assured that it would be fine for a couple of weeks while we went on our trip and we went ahead and scheduled surgey for when we returned.
On the first night, after my panicked rush to the Urgent care, we started calling this bump his Hulk bump. He loves the Hulk and loves to Hulk Smash things, so I thought it would make him feel tough, and also proud of his bump when people (doctors) wanted to poke and prod.
Here he is on the morning of the surgery, showing off his Hulk bump:
I got a really silly video of him after anesthesia and before he fell asleep. He was such a good sport.
Here he is before he got his sleepy medicine. Looking forward to having a tough Hulk scar!
Aw, here's my sweet baby boy after surgery. He has his most favorite pillow pet, and his blankie. He was such a trooper!
When he woke up, the first thing he wanted was all the tubes and wires taken off. His nurses were awesome and kept trying to talk him into keeping them, but in the end Hyatt sweet talked them into taking his monitoring patches off his chest. Then, an hour or so later, he sweet talked them into taking out his IV, even after they gave him a "buddy" doll with an IV to make him feel better.
It was expected that he would stay overnight, but he was bouncing off the walls by 4pm. Brandon brought the kids by to see him and brought dinner, then Dayton came by and brought treats. By the time they were ready to leave, Hyatt had talked the nurses into letting him go home too! Yay! He didn't even have to stay the night.
I am so grateful this was an easy fix and that he was fine and that there wasn't any follow up treatment. You can ask him any day to see his Hulk scar and he will happily show you!

Poor sweet boy! Last time I saw you he was just about to go in for surgery, so glad it went well. Hard to see your baby go through that but I'm glad it all ended well!
