This is a post for all my peeps here in Arizona. I don't usually get political on my blog, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
There is a very important proposition coming up for vote in November. It is Proposition 102. Basically, it makes an amendment to our state constitution that the word "marriage" can only mean a union between a man and a woman. Let me state here that I have no problems with the choices other people make and how they live their lives. However, this WILL affect your life and your children's lives if it doesn't pass. I am happy to talk to whoever wants more information on this topic, and I can tell you more about what is happening in Massachusettes because it didn't pass there. Or you can go to www.yesformarriage.com.
Did you know that you have to be registered to vote by OCTOBER 6th in order to vote in the November election? Go here to register. You can also go here to update your registration or register. You'll need to update if you've moved. PLEASE update it. If you don't then you have to return to your old polling place to vote, or vote on a provisional ballot. If you vote on a provisional ballot there is a chance your vote won't count. If you update your address you'll be sent a new voter registration card, and that's all you'll need to take with you when you vote. That card... if it's current... is like voter's gold.
If you want to request an early ballot go here. Or better yet... you can go here to request permanent early ballots. You can vote in every election without leaving the comfort of your home. It's so easy to do it that way!
This is so important. Please vote in November.

Can I copy this awesome post and put it on my blog?
I'm afraid you may have been snagged by a red herring. Consider the recent takeover of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by the government, shifting responsibility of over five Trillion (yes, trillion) dollars of tenuous mortgage debt onto you and I. This is twice the entire yearly budget of the US, which has already outpaced federal tax revenue... which means even a tame estimated default rate of five percent is going to explicitly affect the bottom line taxes you pay for at least a decade, particularly clear when you acknowledge the 9.7 trillion dollars of debt the US taxpayers have already shouldered. This is aside from the rising cost of oil which is the breaking backbone of our economy and the reason everything else is getting more expensive. Then there's the exhaustively documented corruption rampant in US politics exhibited by both political parties, and the constant disregard of the constitution and basic rights of US citizens. The undeniably terrifying facts are out there, they are plausible, verifiable, in clear view of everyone, yet nobody sees them because the majority of media everybody is exposed to is owned by very few large conglomerate corporations (acting as independent agents, it is as Steinbeck wrote in The Grapes of Wrath, there is no one person to blame) who have hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue and a vested interest in keeping that money by having the politics dirty and the people uninformed or distracted by non-issues. Impossible? a quick google search shows that cnn is owned by Time-Warner media, which not only owns a whole lot of other media outlets like time magazine, but has a yearly revenue of more than 40 billion dollars and shares executive board members with the Altria group (owns nabisco, phillip morris, etc.) 38+ billion annual revenue, motorola 36+ billion annual revenue, Hilton Hotels 8+ billion annual revenue, as well as colgate-palmolive 11+ billion annual revenue, and Axel Springer AG, the largest news media outlet in Europe. The links from the board of directors alone, not accounting for large contracts and other major ties show the Time Warner group and associates capturing around 6% of the US GDP every year (less government spending). The list goes on and on. Fox News channels, amidst many others, are all owned by News Corp, the largest media conglomerate in the world, next to Time-Warner and Disney, Viacom (controlled by National Amusements as majority shareholder, who also control CBS corporation, dreamworks, and paramount pictures). All told the news conglomerates must be taking more than 10% of all the money the US has every year... how could there possibly not be a conflict of interests??
I understand the moral ambiguity of marriage, but looking at it as an informed citizen amidst all the other incredible and imminent dangers facing the United States it is practically imperceptible! I can't imagine two men marrying is in any way worse than a second economic depression, easily the Greater depression, or the loss of our civil liberties, or Any of the other storms brewing which have the capability to cause incredible amounts of misery, death, and destruction (though windfall profits for defense contractors).
What happens if electricity bills double, triple, quadruple, etc. because the cost of scarce oil has made the transportation of coal to the coal fired power plants 10 times more expensive? I can't imagine an Arizona summer without air-conditioning... yet i know my electricity bills have already doubled from two years ago...
Wow,
That was a totally unrelated tangent. Whoever you are... defining marriage is the battle I choose to fight. You can choose your fight.
