Grady Turns 5

His beautiful hazel eyes and charming smile turned 5 yesterday. My baby boy is half a decade old. He is super lucky because he gets to have a whole month of anticipation leading up to his birthday, since Daxton's is exactly one month before. Needless to say, it's been kind of a long month of Grady asking how long until HIS birthday.

We've decided that the boys get birthday parties every other year, and not in the same year. That way, we don't break the bank by throwing two big parties within a month of each other. That being said, this is Grady's off year. That didn't mean there wasn't fun to be had and money to be spent.

Grady got to choose his breakfast and of ALL the things he could have chosen, it was Cookie Crisp that his little heart desired.

We were off to swimming lessons after breakfast. Miss Tracie found out it was Grady's birthday (after he told EVERYONE who even looked at him that he was 5) and had everyone sing to him. He told me later that he didn't like the spankin's.

We rushed home from swimming so Grady could get some dry clothes on and we could make it to lunch on time. His choice for lunch was to get a McDonalds Happy Meal and go eat lunch with Daxton at his school. I thought it was so sweet that of everything he could do, that's what he chose. Of course, Daxton was happy too.

After an exhausting morning, we went home for some R&R (at least for the kids). Grady was a little bored, so when his friend Austin called to wish him a Happy Birthday, we invited him over to play. They played super-hero dress up and squirt-guns.

After an afternoon of fighting crime with water, we went to feed the fake alligator some pennies at the Rainforest Cafe, per Grady's request. He also wanted to eat dinner there, so of course we did. He didn't love it though. Every time the thunderstorm started he plugged his ears and buried his head in my lap. Grady does NOT like noise. He never has. Rainforest Cafe is the loudest restaraunt I've ever been to. He kept saying, "Mom, the thunder is freakin' me out."

He had his ideal day and I was happy to give it to him. We did a little birthday interview so he can always remember who he was at 5.
